#Fallout new vegas tale of 2 wastelands install
The game requires either the retail versions of both games fully updated or the Steam version, in which case the user will have to install Steam into the wrapper via Winetricks. Pirated versions of Fallout 3 GOTY and Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition will not work with this mod. If you would prefer to just install Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition scroll to the bottom for the information pertaining to F3 wrappers

There are multiple steps to complete the installation into this wrapper to run the Tale of Two Wastelands mod. At this point, Requiem for the Capital Wasteland is outdated anyway, as many improvements have been made in the latest version of Tale of Two Wastelands.

You can't download Requiem for the Capital Wasteland here (nor anywhere else really), and you won't find any discussion of it here.

Many of the team members are the same, and the goal is the same. Tale of Two Wastelands is the successor to the Requiem for the Capital Wasteland (RFCW) project. In fact I am playing it right now, heavily modded of course.Tale of Two Wastelands (TTW) is a project that seeks to merge the content from the popular video game Fallout 3 into the more modern game engine of Fallout New Vegas so that both games can be played in the Fallout New Vegas engine. They suggested I push thru the beginning and see what happens. I over heard two guys talking in my local gaming store about a quest in FO3 out in the wasteland and I started talking to them. Years later I bought FONV and loved it from start to finish. When I bought FO3 the first time(no internet no other Bethesda games history total newb) I played about 10 minutes of it and hated the game returned it to the store the same day. * I have to be careful here because I don't want to spoil anything for you. Once outside do a couple quests.Ģ) add TTW and see what that looks like and if you noticed any difference in how the game looks and performs. That is where the game really starts for me. You won't notice much until you get outside *.

But they were all trying to use other mods with it so that may have been the LP'er fault not TTW.īefore you get too invested with FO3 you might want to try a couple approaches.ġ) Load up the vanilla game and see if you like it. You would also get true iron sights and all of the weapons of NV.Įvery LP I have seen with TTW the LP'er gave up do to lots of game crashes. The big thing everyone raved about was how FO3 would run on the FONV engine and be more stable. That of all places should at least have something worthwhile to look at and buy. I have yet to find anyone that sells any type of ammo variants in any meaningful capacity, including the Citadels armory. Sure, they offer stock you from the game, but their caps are so low or their inventory is otherwise seriously lacking. My only problem is that the Capital Wastelands vendors still suck, and don't really mesh well with NV's game mechanics. They carry some nice weaponry, and some mercs wear MKII combat armor, meaning its pretty easy to get a 3000+ profit on them per kill. Their loot is strangely enough very easy to make a big profit on. Okay, if they get the drop on you, things get ugly fast, but I find a combination of a Bottlecap mine being set off by a grenade hits them pretty hard. I'm forsaking Power Armor for this run, so my fairly low DT (around 13) is probably making things a lot more a little tougher then it needs to be. The Enclave is actually sort of manageable (Though I have some decent weapons and ammo now), but the officers have actually given me a rough time lobbing plasma grenades at me. I don't know if its something New Vegas did to Super Mutants, but they can barrel out of cover and land right on top of you in a matter of seconds if they really want to, which is actually rather frightening when you're dealing with three normal variants and a Super Mutant Master lobbing missiles at you from a distance.

Super Mutants might give you a good chunk of ammo (Mostly 5.56mm rounds), but thanks to their damage threshold and the difficulty of finding weapons that can crack their hide early on, you'll find yourself close to running dry pretty quickly. Resources are a pretty big problem once you hit the D.C. I'm not using any big overhaul mods here, so its mostly the "vanilla" experience of FO3 only using the New Vegas Engine.Īnd I gotta tell you, its pretty fun. So I actually decided to try this little number out, given that I've been itching to play Fallout 3 for a long time, but could never get the bugger to not explode dramatically on me after twenty seconds.
